when ben & i were researching the portuguese water dog, there were videos and pictures galore on websites chronicling the pwd's love of the water. hoping that bella would would be transported back to her ancestors' days aboard the portuguese fishermen's boats, we introduced her early to the boat and ocean. we took her to one of the clam flats in gloucester...it was slow going at first!
